What changes

What breaks when you move to Mage-OS, and how we handle it

Adobe-only modules

Modules that need Adobe services are listed and replaced before the switch.

Removed modules

Mage-OS 3 drops Magento_Backup and Adobe analytics. We set up server backups and GA4 instead.

Old PHP

PHP 8.2 is no longer supported. We move your server to PHP 8.4 first.

Search engine

Elasticsearch 7 stores move to OpenSearch 3 and get reindexed.

Adobe Commerce stores

Commerce-only features need a plan of their own. We list them and offer replacements.

FAQ

Straight answers about Mage-OS

Is Mage-OS safe for a live store?

Yes. It ships Magento's security fixes, often faster. Mage-OS 3.5.0 brought the fix for a critical remote code execution flaw within days. We apply patches for our support clients the same week.

Will my extensions work?

Mage-OS uses the same code as Magento Open Source 2.4.9, so most extensions work without changes. We check every one before we switch.

Does Hyvä work on Mage-OS?

Yes. Hyvä is a Mage-OS partner and the Mage-OS 3 installer can install it. Hyvä does not include Mage-OS in its own internal tests yet, so we test every Hyvä build on our own Mage-OS 3 store.

Do I need Hyvä to use Mage-OS?

No. We install Mage-OS standalone with Luma or your current theme as well. Hyvä is an option you can add now or later.

Can I go back to Magento?

Yes. The code base is the same, so a migration can be reversed by switching the packages back. We keep a tested way back for every go-live.

Can you move us from Adobe Commerce?

Yes, as its own project. Commerce-only features do not exist in Mage-OS, so we list them first and plan a replacement for each one.

Which PHP version do I need?

PHP 8.3 at least, 8.4 recommended, 8.5 supported.

When is Mage-OS 4?

It is being planned. Mage-OS releases two major versions a year. We follow each one and upgrade our support clients.
